Vision Statement
B.E.E. is an outreach and support to homeschooling families in Southern California by enhancing their educational eperience through provision of access to the Arts.
Mission Statement
B.E.E. is an inclusive organization serving families across a diverse spectrum of educational styles and philosophies. B.E.E. exists to provide eriching educational events to families that want to add a variety of cultural arts programs focused on meeting curriculum standards to their curriculum.
Benefits
In public schools, people are familiar with 'school assemblies' where a whole grade level or school attends an activity in the gym. This activity usually introduces the students to some kind of entertainment, educational, or cultural show or speaker to enrich their academic experience.
B.E.E. serves to provide the same 'school assembly' activities for the homeschool community of students that does not have access to these types of shows and speakers on a regular basis. These presentations include shows and speakers highlighting topics from cultural arts, education, historical figures to music appreciation and enrichment programs.
B.E.E. melds its rich experience in event planning, coordination and venue acquisition, with its homeschooler database and relationships with professional artists and musicians who are affiliated with national arts programs (such as Orange County Center for the Performing Arts) in order to make these events as cost effective and logistically seamless as possible.
These cultural and curriculum-based educational shows aspire to enrich the educational journey of homeschooled children whose families subscribe annually or who pay a per-event fee.
Examples of some of the past shows that have been presented include:
- historical characters like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abigail Adams, and Harriett Tubman
- classical music appreciation from a Juilliard-trained pianist
- plays from California history such as "Indian Summer"
- art and science education (i.e., learning puppetry and Mime and exploring the world of bugs).
Most states, including California, have a standard for Arts Education for children. B.E.E.'s planned presentations will satisfy The State of California content standards and core areas of curriculum.
