This course will teach your students to love their brain and to take care of it for life. The course can be credited as a
unit in: within a Health course: within a Psychology elective course: within a Biology or Life Science course: a
separate elective course on the Brain and Health. No extra books are required for this class but a lot of approved copied paperwork. ($15.00 extra for material costs)
The material is derived from Dr. Amen’s experiences and research. We will learn these twelve enduring understandings about the brain. We will also learn about foods that help our brain.
- The brain is involved in everything you do.
- When your brain works right, you work right.
- Your brain is the most complex organ in the universe.
- Your brain is soft, your skull is very hard.
- Certain parts of the brain are involved with certain behaviors.
- Your brain only has a limited amount of reserve.
- Many things can help the brain.
- Many things can hurt the brain.
- Imaging the brain helps to understand and help it – (40 page test your student can take to get results equal to brain imaging)
- The brain can change. Good things help, bad things hurt.
- The perfect brain is only a myth.
- The brain is not completely developed until you are 25.
